Pantry Staples

One of the best tips I think I can give you for cooking and baking is to have a stocked pantry. I learned this the hard way, but you don’t have to since I compiled a PDF of what I always have in my pantry :)

This is just my personal pantry staple items, but you might find that you have other staples that you’re more than welcome to add to your list. My pantry staples are just items that I find myself constantly using in all my recipes. You might wonder, “what’s the point?” well, the point is that it saves you trips to the store and you can “shop” in your pantry for ingredients prior to going to the store. More than half the time, I already have 3/4 of everything a recipe calls for and I only have to spend a few dollars at the store for other ingredients. If you’re constantly using a certain ingredient all the time, why not just always have it stocked and ready at hand? My staple pantry items are also one of those items that I immediately add to my grocery list if I’m out of them so I’ll always be ready for whatever the recipe calls for. Also, I find having staple pantry items (spices in particular) already in the pantry saves a lot on the bill at the grocery store. A lot of the items last a very long time so you’ll likely not have to buy it again for a while!

Hi Julie,

I’ve only just discovered your website from ziplist but I’ve already got a list longer than my arm of things I want to try out!
I’ve just tried the link to the pantry basics PDF though (I’m just nosey and like to know what other people keep in store…) and it sends me to a dead end site. Just wondered if you know how I could have a look at it. =) x

Hey there Carl, the link at the bottom of the post works! Here’s the link (it’s fairly old and pretty outdated though): http://www.tablefortwoblog.com/files/pantry_staples.pdf
