This weekend was crazy.
I know this isn’t a typical food post but this weekend also wasn’t typical for me or Jason either.
You guys…
I’M ENGAGED!!!!!
It was so hard keeping it in all weekend especially trying ever so hard to not allude to it (even though I did fudge at least twice that resulted in me deleting tweets).
It still feels very surreal and so much like a dream. Our families are over the moon and Jason and I are both so ecstatic.

I didn’t see it coming – no one did. Everyone who we told thought it was going to happen a lot later. I thought it was going to happen in April or May, never in a million years did I think it would happen on our 2 year anniversary. You know, everyone always says the most obvious is on a holiday or a specific celebration so I had completely ruled it out thinking Jason wouldn’t make it obvious that it was coming.
If you’re interested, this is how it went down…
Saturday morning, in typical Julie & Jason fashion, we roll out of bed, turn on the tv in the living room and watch Food Network (usually Pioneer Woman) while figuring out what to eat for breakfast. Jason had hopped in the shower really early, which was weird, but I didn’t think anything of it. When he came out of the shower, I gave him a card and said “happy 2 year!” He read it and smiled. I asked, “where’s mine?” and he stared at me. Then got up and went into the bedroom. He was taking a while. I was thinking, “is he writing it right now or something? What’s the hold up?” I almost went in the room, but didnt. And then..he comes out of the bedroom with a ring box.
And I freak out.
First words out of my mouth: “what the f!*k?!?!!?!?!” and then “oh my god, what the heck, this can’t be happening, is this real life right now? I really honestly didn’t think it’d be today, this is sooner than I thought, oh my god, what the heck, oh my god…” I never calmed down, through Jason’s entire touching speech, I was freaking out and tearing up and I didn’t hear a word he said (haha, I had to ask him to repeat it later) until he asked, “well?” and of course I said YES.
The ring is absolutely gorgeous and perfect. He did an amazing job :) We then called our families and close friends and the entire day I was staring at my left hand. I still am and I still think this is so surreal.
I have been planning my wedding all my life and I actually have to do something now with the planning. At least I have a while :) we still have a ton to do, including buying a house this summer. I think wedding planning will take a backseat until August or something :)

Woooo! Congratulations gurl!!! If it makes you feel any better, when my now husband proposed, I said “you son of a b@&$#!”
Haha, this is exactly how I would be if my boyfriend asked me to marry him. You guys are so ridiculously cute! I can’t wait to hear more about your plans as they evolve and I hope that one day soon I’ll get to buy you a glass of champagne to celebrate!
