PW Wednesday’s: Breakfast Pizza

You must think we love pizzas, huh? And meaty ones too. Well, it’s hard to not love them since Ree just comes up with the best combinations to top these pizzas. Last PW Wednesday we had the most amazing meat pizza, ever and this week we have a breakfast pizza that your entire family will love you for. It’s topped with so much bacon and a runny egg that there really shouldn’t be an excuse as to why you wouldn’t want to make this. The fresh mozzarella cheese melted so luxuriously (ha, yes, I’m serious) on the layers so when you bit into it, all the stringiness of the cheese just came oozing out.

This week, this pizza was chosen by Rachel. Thank youuuu girl for choosing this. It tasted amazing. I probably have said that for every PW Wednesday dish but they really are amazing.

I love that this pizza has all the breakfast sides just on one pizza. It’s like shoving your entire breakfast in your mouth but in a classier and cleaner way ;)

Here are my notes on this pizza:

  • I made individual pizzas with flour tortillas. I wanted to do this because I wanted a thin crust pizza.
  • My hash browns (can you even tell I had hash browns?) turned out nasty. They look like sausage in the picture. I made them from fresh potatoes so I think going the frozen route as the recipe calls for is far better. I think that the fresh ones have too much starch and I didn’t prepare them well enough to account for the starch so it all just clumped together.
  • Since I used tortillas and didn’t want them to burn in the oven, I had to fry my egg in a skillet and then put it on the pizza. The recipe called for you breaking the eggs on top of the pizza and cooking them in the oven with the rest of the pizza.

Rachel has the recipe over on blog today so go on over and grab it!! Don’t forget to check out every one else’s delicious creation! Gina, Megan, and Tina!

Kathryn - May 16, 2012 - 8:40 AM

This is a great way to justify eating pizza for breakfast (like I really need a way!). Love that you made individual ones with tortillas too, what a great idea.

amy @ fearless homemaker - May 16, 2012 - 9:10 AM

fun idea to make them into individual pizzas!

Megan {Country Cleaver} - May 16, 2012 - 9:22 AM

I love the thin crust via tortilla route. That’s just brilliant. This was so freakin’ tasty, she totally picked a winner. And (not so) sadly, Ben is not around for me to share it with – I get the Whole Thing to myself haha

Cassie - May 16, 2012 - 9:24 AM

Who doesn’t love a meaty pizza??? (ok, we do a little too much). I can’t tell you how jealous I am that I dont have this cookbook yet and am not cooking along.

Chineka - May 16, 2012 - 9:56 PM

Great idea for breakfast that is a little out of the box and creative.

Casey - May 17, 2012 - 1:06 AM

this looks so tasty! I have always been so tempted with the idea of eggs on pizza. It’s such a weird concept to me as a chicago girl, but I love the twist! Need to try it soon :)

Chung-Ah | Damn Delicious - May 17, 2012 - 3:43 PM

I love that you made individual portions. And that picture with the oozing yolk is just killing me! (I’m at work eating a very sad-looking salad while I’m drooling over this picture. So depressing.)
