You know what’s really expensive? Window treatments. We finally finished the look of our office this past weekend with sheer draperies (thanks to one of my closest girlfriends, who is an interior designer!) for the windows. They only include ONE window panel per package and it’s priced at $20 EACH! We had to buy 5 of them. $100 for fabric that I probably could’ve gotten at JoAnn’s Fabric and sewed myself. Although, I would have to learn how to sew so maybe that’s not such a good idea. On top of the panels, we had to buy curtain rods for $12 a piece. I mean, I guess I can’t complain too much since all in all we spend $124 on window treatments and it really pulls together the entire look of the room but it’s just crazy how much fabric is, or maybe I just didn’t know where to look for cheaper ones.
Anyway, so I’m thrilled with our completion of the office. It’s a really nice, serene place to be :) I also finally saw Silver Linings Playbook over the weekend. Have any of you seen it yet? I really liked it and so did Jason. I was kind of shocked he liked it so much but it’s not a chick flick and it’s kind of depicts real life: how everyone has their own quirks and weirdness and we all just come together naturally. It’s a great movie, I would definitely recommend it to everyone. I love J-Law. She’s so pretty and I love how funny she is. She has a great personality and I hope it doesn’t change with fame and she always stays the same.
Ok, so I said last Friday that I’d have another boozy treat for y’all today and here you go! Boozy truffles! I was inspired by Jessica and her truffles (hers look SO much better than mine). They’re so easy to make but pretty messy. Makes me annoyed that restaurants and confectionaries charge so much for one. I guess it’s probably the ingredients that go into it that makes them up-charge. If you can, I would definitely use good quality chocolate in here. These truffles are SO rich but SO good. It’s hard to eat just one, but I feel if you eat more than two, you’ll start to feel sick. They’re really that rich. Sprinkles make everything more fun so that’s why I rolled mine in sprinkles. I also brought them to a get-together a few weeks ago and everyone that ate one really liked them so they have the stamp of approval!
Boozy Truffles
Yield: approx. 50 truffles, give or take, depending on how large or small your truffles are | Prep Time: 20 minutes plus overnight chill time | Cook Time: n/a | Source: Table for Two original
Ingredients:
2 cups chopped dark chocolate (I used Trader Joe’s dark chocolate pounder)
1 cup heavy whipping cream
4 tbsp. red wine (any kind)
1 cup non-pareils sprinkles
Instructions:
- In a small pot, bring the heavy whipping cream to just a boil. Remove from heat and pour over the chopped dark chocolate (which should be in a microwave safe bowl). Let stand for 3 minutes then whisk together red wine and chocolate mixture. Mixture should be thick and smooth.
- Cover with saran wrap, pressing the saran wrap onto the top of the chocolate mixture. Let chill in refrigerator overnight.
- When ready to assemble, remove saran wrap from bowl and using a melon baller, scoop chocolate out and form into a ball with your hands then roll around in sprinkles. Place onto a baking sheet lined with wax paper.
- Continue until all chocolate has been used up. Refrigerate baking sheet of truffles for 30 minutes before serving.
- Store in the fridge if not eating but they will be fine room temperature. I prefer them straight out of the fridge though!

Absolutely love the sound and LOOK of these! Anything with sprinkles is just so happy!
I love homemade truffles and how you can play with the flavours and ingredients to get something different every time. Red wine sounds inspired!
These are quite pretty Julie! I made similar truffles with Bailey’s, so good. Love the red wine in this!!!
Love these! They would be great to bring to a party:)
These look splendid! I have yet to attempt homemade truffles but this looks like a great first recipe to try!
LOVE all of the sprinkles!
Sprinkle? Yes please! I’m in!!!
I pretty much love anything filled with booze- they are so pretty too!
Why do sprinkles make everything so much better?
These are so cute. I saw Jessica’s a few weeks back, too– yours are definitely just as pretty!! And hey… restaurants never put sprinkles on anything. So that means yours are cheaper AND better.
Red wine and dark chocolate is a fabulous combo and those truffles look so good!
I love dark chocolate and red wine, so will definitely be trying these. Thanks for sharing!!
Might I ask a question about Trader Joe’s chocolate? Is it real chocolate? Do they also carry white “chocolate”? I bake a lot and have to order my chocolate. The shipping is killing me, but Trader Joe’s is in Houston now, so chocolate would give me a reason to go check them out!
I loved the movie too! Truffles look incredible and the sprinkles are super fun. Thanks for the warning not to go over two…I think I would be very tempted!
I totally approve of combining wine and dark chocolate. These are super cute!
It is real chocolate! Or at least I’m not sure what “real” and “fake” chocolate would be but on the package it says it’s imported from Belgium :) they have dark chocolate, milk chocolate, & dark chocolate with almonds. I don’t think they have white chocolate in the pound plus cause I’ve never seen it before, but they do have white chocolate chips!
Thanks, Julie! White isn’t really even chocolate, so I’m not as picky about it, but I always use real chocolate in ganache, etc. I will definitely make a detour by Trader Joe’s next time I go visit my grandson.
I think yours look just fabulous :)
So cute! Love love love me some sprinkles :)
Yeah, we still don’t have window treatments either. I’m trying to take my time to find what I really want but they are expensive!! I love these, lady!
These boozy chocolates look great! Love the sprinkles.
I know you’re a month ahead and all but it’s still funny we both posted boozy treats on the same day. ;) And seriously the cost of window treatments is why I haven’t bothered… plus I’d be dealing with cat hair and god knows what else on them with the kids touching them so no thanks to that idea.
These beauties are so dang perfect I had to pin twice!
Yes, yes and YES to these. Oh and YUM. :)
Gurrrrrrl, these boozy truffles are AMAZEBALLS! Thank you for making all of our Mondays a little brighter!
I have never had wine truffles- had many other types of boozy truffles so wine I must try! And sprinkles are the perfect touch! I saw silver linings playbook it was a great movie and my jason enjoyed it too :)
Bring on the boozy treats!
I LOVE that these are rolled in sprinkles. Sprinkles=Fun! And I guess you sure will have fun with boozy truffles ;)
OBSESSED
Silver Lining’s Playbook is one of my favorite movies this year. It’s not overly cheesy, its just real to life. These boozy truffles look like they would cure anybody of a chocolate craving. And the fact that you rolled them in sprinkles puts them over the top!
I am always in for boozy truffles. I made some around xmas with Baileys. this red wine version looks totally rich and delicious too! On a different note- I loved Jennifer’s acting in that movie- i wish she doesnt change with fame either :)
Boozy truffles with sprinkles? Yes please, I am in!
Love boozy desserts, and these sound like an amazing tuffle. Love all the sprinkles to, so festive!
Curtains are crazy expensive – I had to do the same for my sons room, I was shocked how much for his little window it cost!
I loved Silver Linings Playbook so much! I saw it alone, but told my husband we were watching it on DVD together when it came out :) Your truffles look awesome, love the sprinkles!!

Oh, window treatments are ridiculously expensive! And always sold as just one measly panel. And yes, Silver Linings Playbook is SO good!
I’m loving these truffles with all those bright sprinkles!
You know where I get {most of} my window treatments from — Ikea! There sooo much more inexpensive!!! LOVE the way these look! SO stinkin cute!
Eep! Love how cute these are! Definitely making.
(Not looking forward to doing the window treatments for our home reno btw. Wasn’t in the budget at all, soooo, we might not have any for quite a while. Lol).
I think yours look just as gorgeous as Jessica’s, Julie! Don’t sell yourself short. I can and want to eat about 8 of these in a row.
Hello, Gorgeous! These are SO fabulous, Julie! I wish we were eating them and drinking wine right now!
