The house seems like it’s coming together more and more as the weeks go on! The house is now wrapped and the windows are all put in (well except the one at the very top; we think they have to order a new one because the one sitting in the garage is broken and it seems like it’s the size for that very top one). The trim is also now on the windows and doors and our little flower bed above the garage is on, too.

They finally were able to pour the cement for the porch stoop and form the stairs. Plumbing, gas lines, and electrical are all being put in now and I think they’re wrapping up. We have a pre-drywall inspection meeting next week!

So many wires!

Funny thing about this photo: the fireplace is actually not where it’s supposed to be, lol…we paid for a raised stone hearth and they placed the fireplace on the ground. The project manager caught it and they’re ripping it out now as we speak and re-doing the whole thing. Which is great; I’m extremely grateful for our project manager. He told us that he basically lets the contractors do their job for the day and then he comes by in the evenings and marks stuff off that they didn’t do correctly. He’s so patient with us and you know what I like about him? I like that he talks to you like he cares about getting to know you. I stopped by the house the other day and as I was leaving, he was pulling up to the house. What was supposed to be a quick site visit for me, I stayed for an additional 45 minutes just talking with our PM about our personal lives. And…he knew EVERY name of the owners whom he built houses for and what they did and some sort of tidbit about them. That makes me feel good about this build because it shows he actually cares for the people that will be living in the house he builds. It’s not just another dollar sign for him. He’s like building a home for a family to grow in. That’s true passion. And you don’t see that a lot in home builds.

The blue painter’s tape on the floor that you see above is us trying to figure out if the couch we want will fit in the living room or not. Happy to say, yes it does! We’ll obviously move it further back from the fireplace but we wanted to get a rough idea to see if the width and length would fit. SO excited. I can’t wait to order our couch :)

I can’t wait until the sheet rock is put up and then the real fun stuff starts to happen. Stay tuned!
