I’m sad the holiday season is over. Mainly because that means I have to go back to work and I can’t lounge at home in my PJ’s all day with my husband and pup. That is literally all we’ve been doing the past two weeks. We even got to sleep in a bit since Winston is older now. It was pure bliss staying under the warm covers until 730am. Now I’m back to waking up at 530am. It was good while it lasted! Did you all have a good holiday season?

ALSO. You guys. Everyone is talking about it and well, so am I. Making a Murderer on Netflix. YOU MUST WATCH IT. Holy mind blowing. It is seriously the most infuriating and sickening thing to watch. It’s so corrupt. We completely binged on it this past weekend. The first couple episodes were a bit slow but as soon as you hit the third one, it gets more and more puzzling and you’re completely invested until the last episode. Gah! So good. This 20-minute sweet and sour harissa chicken with green beans looks fire-breathing hot but it’s actually the complete opposite of that, I promise! It’s also super easy to put together and will come together in about 20 minutes! We put this over a bed of white rice but you can totally eat it as is. Either way you choose, it’ll be one flavorful dish to get on your dinner table!

20-Minute Sweet and Sour Harissa Chicken with Green Beans

20 minutes is all it takes to get this flavorful and delicious meal on your dinner table!

Ingredients 

  • ½ cup (137 g) mild harissa*
  • ¼ cup (85 g) honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large chicken chicken breast, diced into 1 inch cubes
  • ½ pound (227 g) string beans, cut in half
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions 

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together harissa, honey, and garlic. Set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown chicken on both sides then add beans. Cook until chicken is cooked through and green beans are bright green yet still crisp, about 4-5 minutes.
  • Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and reduce heat to medium-low. Stir to incorporate and let simmer for 3 minutes.
  • Serve by itself or over a bed of white rice.

Notes

I used mild harissa but the brand of harissa I used also comes in spicy. If you like spicy, feel free to use that instead and tailor it to your palate.
