Beyond the Table

  • burger, tap, shake burger

Hi! It has certainly been a while since I have done a Beyond the Table post. I do love writing them but sometimes I don’t have much to say so I’ll just check in every once in a while!

    1. Omg, I’ve been craving burgers a lot this month. The one photographed above was from this burger place in DC called Burger, Tap, Shake. Very hard to return to work after that, haha
    2. TV shows: we absolutely loved and blew through The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime. The acting, the costumes, the makeup — everything was just so good!!! I can’t wait for season two. We also started watching The Crown and I gave it nine episodes, y’all. I just cannot get into it. I give up. Everyone raves about it and I just can’t. Jason likes it so he has continued on without me. It’s a total snoozefest.

    1. I ditched my S’well bottle. I just couldn’t deal with the fact that I couldn’t put it in the dishwasher and I had to buy a bottle brush. I also disliked having to open the entire top to take a sip. Working out with it was tough because you either had to keep opening it or keep it open and then spill, haha…so I got a Yeti Rambler in this beautiful seafoam color. So far, I love it. And who knew there were so many accessories for a tumbler?
    2. We’re heading to Amsterdam on Friday!! Oh my gosh, I am SO excited. We are meeting Brandy and her husband over there. If you’ve got some last minute recommendations, please send them my way!!
    3. I usually don’t paint my nails a nude color but Field Fox by CND is so pretty. In different lights it can be a lilac-grey, taupe, or muted grey.
    4. Both my parents got the flu and I’ve turned into germaphobe. I work from home three times a week but I had to come into the office today so I sanitized EVERYTHING. Door handles, door frame, light switches, my keyboard, mouse, monitors, anything I’m going to be touching. I plan to do the very same on the plane. Just thinking about the germs is making me gag.
    5. I have a beauty favorites post coming soon! I’m debating posting it next week or the week after.
    6. I also have a LASIK journey post. I documented EVERYTHING you need to know about the surgery if you’re on the fence!!

Can’t wait to hear about the LASIK!! I’ll probably be doing it in the spring.

    • Julie says:

Omg, it is SO life-changing and you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner!!!!

  • dixya @food, pleasure, and health says:

i will be stalking you on your Amsterdam journey….i couldnt get into The Crown either…i did try very very hard.

    • Julie says:

Hooray! I’ll def be sharing!! And yeah, I tried hard too but I just couldn’t do it.

  • Virginia says:

I can’t recommend de Silveren Spiegel highly enough for a nice dinner. It was far and above the best food we had in Amsterdam!

Hope you have a great trip!

    • Julie says:

Oh thank you! I’m putting that down on my list.

  • Blu says:

I’m so excited about your Amsterdam trip! I would take some rosehip oil to use on the plane so your skin doesn’t dry out. It’s a dry oil so it doesn’t feel thick on your face.

More importantly, that burger… is. perfect. Xo

    • Julie says:

      Great idea, thanks!!

  • Julie says:

I just ditched my previous water bottle too and bought this one in Emerald:

It has the standard lid but the 22 oz. also comes with a flip lid. Love it so far.

  • Joyce says:

If you have time, I would recommend picking up Curad’s (sp?)antibacterial face mask to wear on the plane. It is suppose to kill 99% of the germs. Can’t hurt…Have fun in Amsterdam!!!

    • Julie says:

YES! I looked it up. I think I’m going to buy it!! Thank you!

  • Rachel says:

I am a few episodes from finishing Alias Grace on Netflix – so good! One of those shows where you say, ‘oh, just one more episode’. The first episode did seem a bit slow to me, so if you’re interested, try to get to episode 2 before bailing.

    • Julie says:

Ugh, everyone keeps telling me that about The Crown (season 2) but they also told me how great The Crown was in general so now I don’t know who to trust LOL. I have heard Alias Grace is awesome though!

  • Traci says:

Thank goodness I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t understand the hype behind The Crown! I really wanted to get into it because everyone said it was amazing but it was so boring. You lasted longer than me – I applaud you!

    • Julie says:

Ahh I know! Haha thank you!
