I guess I thought that I wouldn’t have enough beauty finds and favs for a monthly post but apparently I went to Ulta and Sephora enough this past month to try some new products that I had to tell you about.
Some products below I have been using awhile but I haven’t shared because it’s one of those situations where you’ve used it for so long that it’s part of your routine that you don’t even think twice to talk about.
I picked up this eye brightener at Bare Minerals last month. I didn’t realize all I needed was an eye brightener and not a concealer. I don’t have dark circles under my eyes so I don’t need to conceal anything. I just needed a simple liquid eye brightener to give me that more ‘awake’ look. I have really liked this so far. It goes on incredibly smooth and it’s super easy to blend.
I’m sure there are other eye brighteners out there that may be better than this one? I don’t know. It’s my first one and I always feel like there is always something better, haha…I like it but I’m not sure if it’s worth the price tag? Or maybe it is. Any favorites of yours?
For all those who have never mentioned this eyeshadow primer, tsk tsk on you. IT IS SERIOUSLY THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER.
I started to notice that my lids are more oily now and my classic MAC eyeliner hasn’t been staying on as well. By the end of the day, it would have creases in it and rubbed off to give me raccoon eyes. This never happened before but recently I’ve noticed it a lot more. Brandy mentioned this eyeshadow primer and um, holy grail product.
I swear it makes the eyeliner more pigmented, too. Like I know my eyeliner is just black but it actually feels like a jet black now. It goes on so smoothly and it stays on ALL day and doesn’t go anywhere. I am absolutely in love with it. I hate the wand that it comes with though. No product gets on it and I have to squeeze from the tube to get the product out.
I’ve been using Brow Wiz by Anastasia for ages but I have also been using the wrong color. Gah!
I didn’t realize my eyebrows were that black and a cooler shade of black. I had been using the swatch that it said on Sephora’s site for ‘black hair’ but I guess I needed the swatch that was for true dark black hair, which is graphite, and it has made a world of difference in my brows, haha
I feel like we don’t take care of our cuticles enough. My nail technician mentioned to me the last time I was there that my cuticles are super dry and thin. She asked whether or not I used cuticle oil and I sadly said no. My friend, Stephanie, told me this Solar Oil by CND was amazing and I have been using it every night and I’m curious to see what my nail tech says next time I see her.
It has a faint almond scent and I love it. I put it on every night before bed, as that’s the easiest to do since it’s oily and you don’t want to get it over everything you touch.
How often do you clean your makeup brushes? Not often enough, huh? After I got LASIK, they told me that I should clean my makeup brushes. I picked this cleansing balm up, after reading up on them and found that this had great reviews and it really does get all the gunk out. It’s amazing at how much it pulls out and it smells sooo good!
Trader Joe’s is stepping up their skincare game. They recently put out a ton of skincare products that everyone is flocking to the shelves for. More specifically this rose water toner. I hate the smell of roses (omg I know) but I bought it anyway (I don’t know why) and I hate it, haha..SHOCKER. I’m going to give it to someone lol
What I do love is this blueberry and acai face scrub. It’s like putting a smoothie on your face but it makes your face feel so soft and refreshing after using it. Not my favorite scrub ever but at $5-$6, it’s not a bad scrub to have on hand especially since it smells so good!
Gah! I have been using this Laura Mercier translucent setting powder for a long time but more recently I’m falling in love with it more and more. It gives me a matte finish to my face and it literally lasts all day. Previously, I had only been using it under my eyes to ‘bake’ the concealer (when I was using concealer) but then I bought a powder brush and brushed this all over my face to finish my face and god, I love it.
It’s so sheer and light; doesn’t feel heavy on your face at all. And the matte finish is just the perfect finish. A container of this is surely going to last me a while since I only wear makeup like twice a week but yay, definitely getting my monies worth ;)
