How To Make Pumpkin Pie Spice

Measure and whisk! I swear that’s all there is to it.

  • Add spices to a bowl. Measure out the individual spices then add to small bowl and whisk well to combine evenly.
  • Store in a glass jar or container with a lid. Pour into a glass jar or container with a lid or start using it right away!

Pumpkin Pie Spice Substitute

Pumpkin pie spice is just a blend of individual spices so if you have run out of the spice blend, you can easily use the individual spices in recipes to create the essence of the pumpkin pie spice. Typically, there is more ground cinnamon than the other spices. Adjust the ratio to your preference!

  2. I’m always happy to save money, so this spice blend is great. And Yes! Thank you for not rushing the seasons. I walked into a Walgreen’s a week and a half ago and they already had their Halloween candy displayed! “Back to School season” wasn’t even over yet.

    1. I don’t like that all holidays and seasons are so pushed now. Life is already so short – why not savor it all and take it all in?? :) there’s no rush for these things!

  3. I’m the founder/moderator for Punk Domestics (www.punkdomestics.com), a community site for those of use obsessed with, er, interested in DIY food. It’s sort of like Tastespotting, but specific to the niche. I’d love for you to submit this to the site. Good stuff!

  4. Aaah this is KILLING me! I had the most beautiful pumpkin patch growing all summer, and just as they were turning all cute and pumpkin-y a neighbor ran over them all with a runaway lawnmower :( heart=BROKEN. I haven’t been able to find roasting pumpkins at the store by us yet, either – all I want in my life is pumpkin things but alas, I have to wait a bit longer. I DID get some pumpkin beer, though – that’s helped a bit. Hah.

  5. These photos are stunning Julie! This pumpkin spice is just perfect considering almost every recipe I am making currently uses it! :) Love it! :)

  6. For all us Canadians who follow and have Thanksgiving in the begining of October… about how much of this spice would you put in 1 pie???

Please and Thanks from the North!
