Second, buying a vacuum cleaner is like buying a car (sort of). So much research and so much doubt! Haha – I just want one that won’t break on me after two years. Right now the debate is between a Dyson and a Shark. It’s kind of like iOS vs. Android. Android lovers will forever devote themselves to Android and never say anything bad about it and same with iOS. I just want some REAL reviews. I want to hear the good AND the bad, ya know? I know a lot of things you buy is, “you get what you pay for” and I know our $75 vacuum that sounds like there’s a dying rat inside is clearly getting what we paid for, BUT is $400 for a Dyson really necessary? Is it excessive? Or can I live with a $150 Shark and trust it won’t crap out on me? Agh, decisions, decisions. It’s hard being an adult sometimes ;) I’ve even watched YouTube videos on these vacuums and I still can’t decide. Ugh, I just don’t want to put my money in the wrong place, that’s all.

OMG. Wait. There’s such thing as an $800 vacuum. Seriously?! I wonder if it’s *that* good to invest in one. Like will you have to buy another in a lifetime? Haha, I won’t be testing that theory out but man, $800 for a vacuum!! I don’t love my floors THAT much!

I love salty and sweet especially in cookies! These salted chocolate chunk cookies aren’t exactly a novel idea but I honestly cannot resist chocolate chunk cookies that have sea salt flakes sprinkled on top. They look so pretty! They’re probably the cookies I’d reach for first in any situation, but then again, if I were put in a cookie situation, I’d probably, realistically take one of each, haha

  • ¾ cup (165 g) light brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Using a spatula, fold in the chocolate chunks.
  • Using a large cookie scoop, scoop dough onto prepared cookie sheets and sprinkle sea salt flakes on top.

  1. OK so I realize my comment is several years late….. Anyway, I LOVE, LOVE chocolate chip cookies and OMG! to add salt.. Thank you, Thank you for that wonderful idea. Will be making them with salt from now on. As for the vacuum…. Hope you like your Dyson. As for me… Had a Kirby – waaaaay too heavy. Have a Dyson DC25 – not as good as I had hoped. There is a close off valve (of some sort) when you pull up the hose to switch to hand held and sometimes when that valve doesn’t switch the suction isn’t as good. The hand held part is so awkward to use. Also, somehow my hose has a huge gash near the handle (not sure how or when it happened, I do take care of my things). Not as maneuverable (if that’s a word) as I thought. Just not worth the money (in my opinion). Now as for the type of vacuum I think is by far the best…. !!! iRobot Roomba !!! All you have to do is push a button. I know, I know… It’s the lazy way out, but, hey, if you are a busy person then I believe this gadget is a god send. Sorry for the long winded comment. Me, myself… I love reading everyone’s comment as long as they aren’t rude. ? Keep up the wonderful blogs Julie!!! You do a fabulous job!!!! Thanks again!

    1. Aw thank you so much! We still use our Dyson and it’s still trucking along!! And actually, we just got a robot vacuum too! It’s nice for touchups on the main floor because we have a corgi and he is a shedder year-round :)

  2. I think I have an unhealthy obsession with chocolate chip cookies; I could eat them every day: right out of the oven, with a glass of milk, on my way out of the house, or anywhere!

  3. Great Blog! Look forward to trying this recipe. Vacuum cleaners – do NOT buy a Dyson. We bought one with the intention of replacing our old Sears Kenmore canister vac. Dyson has a nice design and their marketing is fabulous but after several months of using the Dyson, I find the Kenmore does a much better job and is still kicking around. I truly regret buying the Dyson. Not worth the $$$. The Shark looks great and has a good price point.

  4. This is just what I and my 14 week old baby-to-be have been looking for!! I love sweet and salty also!! I tried Chocolate Caramel and Sea Salt cookies but for me it was too much sweet (?!? I know can there really be? haha) the Chocolate cookie with the caramel was just too much! But these Chocolate chip coolies with the salt! I will be trying these tonight! Thank you for the recipe!!

  5. I heard you ended up with a Dyson. Good choice :) Can’t wait to make these cookies! Chocolate chip cookies are my favorite food — always looking to try new recipes!
