What Is Salt and Pepper Chicken?

Taiwanese/Chinese salt and pepper chicken is a classic street food recipe. Crunchy chicken pieces, or chicken wings, are tossed in a salt and pepper mixture!

Prep the Chicken

In a large bowl, rub your chicken wings with garlic, ginger, and brown sugar. Cover the bowl, and let the chicken marinate for at least an hour.

Coat the Chicken

Toss the chicken wings in cornstarch so that they'll become extra crispy in the oven!

Bake the Wings

Shake off the excess cornstarch and line up the wings on your prepared baking sheets. Bake for 30-35 minutes.

Add the Salt and Pepper

Mix together the Chinese five spice powder, white pepper, and salt. After the chicken has rested for 10 minutes, toss it in the mixture.
