Beyond the Table

Since I’m away on travel, I figured I’d share a different type of post with y’all today. A ‘beyond the table’ post. A post that goes beyond food and recipes; sharing with you ‘life things,’ to put simply. I want to start sharing more of my life beyond the blog and if you aren’t a fan of that, then simply skip this post (no hard feelings!), but I feel like there are some things in here that will appeal to many! :)

Also, if you’re interested, go ahead and follow my travel adventures in Taiwan on Instagram. I’m also using the hashtag #tablefortwointaiwan if you want to follow that way! It’s a 12-hour time difference between Taiwan and the East Coast. So, 6pm on a Monday in Taiwan is 6am Monday in DC. Just to give some perspective! Basically, when your day is beginning, my day is ending.

If you haven’t tried a vanilla macchiato yet, you must try it. I like it so much more than a caramel macchiato. The caramel one is just way too sweet for me. This vanilla one was PERFECT. I’m addicted. I may or may not have been treating myself daily prior to our trip. And speaking of coffee, I’m dying to make this fresh mint iced coffee.

Love this post, Julie! I use Burt’s Bees Honey lip balm and cannot wait to try the Coconut & Pear! It sounds divine. I’m a coconut oil girl, too, and love using it for face and body…even hair. Still deciding on Gone Girl, but must read novel about food bloggers! Thanks for sharing and enjoy your trip! xo

OMG Julie… if you liked Gone Girl then the HAVE to read Gillian Flynn’s other books, Sharp Objects and Dark Places! Both are totally messed up but thrilling page turners. I actually like them better than Gone Girl!

    • Julie says:

I actually do have Sharp Objects and Dark Places on my ‘to-read’ list! Can’t wait!

  • Chrissie says:

I’ve been in such a reading rut lately, but started reading Where’d You Go, Bernadette yesterday and so far, it’s really good! I read Gone Girl and loved it, but was also disappointed by the ending…I’m going to read The All You Can Dream Buffet next!

    • Julie says:

You’re going to LOVE The All You Can Dream Buffet!!

  • Heather Christo says:

I love all this stuff- finishing up divergent series based on your recommendation and am off to buy that hurts chap stick! Also- love that coconut oil- I just ran out and have to get more!

    • Julie says:

Yay!! So glad you’re reading it based off of my recommendation! Do you like it??

  • Gaby says:

Your trip is going to be amazing! Can’t wait to see the photos!

  • My Linh says:

I’m a caramel-lover at heart, but next time I’ll step out of my comfort zone and buy the vanilla one ;) Also, I love reading books. Especially intrigued by the divergent trilogy. Must add that to my e-cart next time! ^^ Furthermore, I’ve been quite busy graduating so haven’t been able to try any new stuff lately :’) Enjoy your trip!

  • Megan {Country cleaver} says:

I hav got to get my mitts on that new Burt’s Bees!! That has to be awesome!!

  • Meredith says:

I need an iced coffee today and that looks like just the ticket! Hope you have a wonderful trip!

  • Lynna says:

I`m so jealous of your trip! Taiwan is one of those places I want to visit!! You`re making me want to read again. I love Dystopian novels!

Try looking into Daughter of Smoke & Bones. It`s not a dystipian novel, but it`s like fantasy…but OMG. It had me completely hooked!! Then, I got my rooommate addicted on the triology. :D

  • Helen @ Scrummy Lane says:

I have to admit I wasn’t a huge fan of the movie Divergent, Julie (sorry!) but I love the sound of the chic-lit book about food bloggers! Enjoy your time in Taiwan … what a great opportunity!

  • Stephanie @ Eat. Drink. Love. says:

I hope you guys are having a great trip! It’s been fun following along with all of your photos!

  • Karen @ The Food Charlatan says:

Toooootally need to read that Dream Buffet book! Sounds so fun!

  • Kristen says:

I have been thinking about reading the Divergent series but I really fail at book reading. I will start a book and then stop it for months at a time. Except Gone Girl, I read that in two days. I watched the movie trailer recently with Ben Affleck. I can’t wait for it to come out! Crazy!!!

I’m also loving Vanilla Macchiatos and Coconut oil. It works perfectly to tame my frizzy hair.

  • Kat @ City Southern says:

LOVING “Beyond the Table”! I am definitely going to use the leftover mint from my bourbon derby drink to make me some mint iced coffee. My cold brew is doing it’s thing right now!
