Better Than Store-Bought: Garlic Hummus

There is no comparing store-bought hummus to homemade hummus. Homemade hummus allows you to create the smoothest and most velvetiest hummus ever, including whatever flavor combination you want to add to your hummus base. I particularly enjoy garlic hummus as opposed to plain hummus because there is just something about that flavorful garlic throughout each bite that makes it so perfectly balanced!

Peeled Chickpeas vs. unpeeled Chickpeas

Some people say that if you peel chickpeas, you yield a much smoother hummus. While, this is generally true, the difference is pretty subtle so if you’re short on time, you can totally skip the peeling and your hummus will still turn out amazing! Otherwise, if you’ve got some spare time, go ahead and peel the chickpeas and see the difference for yourself and decide if it’s worth it for you in the future.

Hummus Variations

If you need inspiration on other flavors to incorporate into your hummus base to create a different flavor, going to your grocery store is the best place to start! There’s so many hummus flavor variations in the hummus section.

Serving Suggestions with Hummus

I love using garlic hummus in a variety of different applications. My ultimate favorite is creating my Chicken Shawarma Bowl and topping it with a bunch of toppings, including garlic hummus and roasted red pepper hummus. My Middle Eastern Inspired Ground Beef Bowl is another great way to use garlic hummus as a topping! Garlic hummus is also great paired with a platter of cut vegetable sticks (celery, carrots, cucumbers) and pita chips and other dips like my Homemade Tzatziki Dip and Baba Ganoush.

Storage Instructions
