If you’re a mango lover like I am, you’ll really enjoy the way it’s showcased in this easy recipe. It has a tropical flair from both the coconut and mango and tasty rum. Essentially, this is a piña colada (complete with pineapple and coconut flavors), but with the addition of frozen mangoes! The mangoes not only add another fruity note that’s absolutely delicious, but they also create the prettiest yellow-orange hue that makes the drink look like sunshine. Next, we just need some water and sand.

Recipe Tips, Substitutions, and Variations

Here’s how to make sure you have the best mango colada every single time!

  • You can make it thicker. If you don’t think your colada is thick enough for your liking, you can always toss some more frozen pineapple chunks into the blender. They’ll thicken the drink and add more summery pineapple flavor – a double win!
  • Add more or less rum. If you’d like a lighter cocktail, pour in about an ounce and a half of rum instead of a full 2 ounces. Alternately, you could always make your drink a double with no extra charge since you’re at home! If you really feel like letting loose, add a floater on top. Drink responsibly, friends!
  • Make it a mocktail. Skip the rum altogether if you’re avoiding alcohol! There’s no need to replace it with anything else and you’ll still have a deliciously fruity, tropical drink. If you do find that you need a little extra liquid to supplement the rum for the correct consistency, simply add 2 ounces more of coconut milk.
  • Skip the ice. A lot of frozen drink recipes call for ice. I’ve found that with this mango colada recipe, all ice does is water it down and mess up the smooth consistency so I do not recommend tossing it in the blender.

As soon as you’re done blending this quick colada, get to serving and sipping immediately and enjoy! Plus, you probably won’t have any leftovers… at least that’s been my experience!
