This horchata latte right here is a game changer for all things coffee. In fact, it’s life-changing.
Now, I’ve always been a coffee fiend. I loved going to Barnes & Noble and taking a deep breath in and smelling the coffee shop in the back of the store. I wanted to be a barista but was always afraid that I’d probably mess someone’s drink up and you NEVER want to deal with someone before they’ve had their coffee, let alone mess up their COFFEE drink. Am I right?!
Typically, every night, I’m very excited to go to bed because I know in the morning, I can wake up and make a latte. Ever since we got our new espresso machine, it’s been the highlight of my morning. Hearing that burr grinder and the sound of the espresso extraction. I’m starting to sound weird, huh? Talking about my espresso machine as if it’s some kind of lover.
If you’ve never had horchata before, you are totally missing out. Horchata is a milky drink that is made out of ground almonds, sesame seeds, rice, barley, or tigernuts. Cinnamon and sugar is typically added. Seriously, it’s so good on its own but then when you pour in espresso?! It’s a whole ‘nother level of goodness.
I haven’t tried making horchata from scratch but Lindsay has a great recipe for homemade horchata here. I will make it one day – maybe after I get my new blender to test it out!
In this recipe, I went to a local Mexican cafe that had a drink dispenser of horchata and bought it from there. Seriously, horchata latte needs to be your next morning drink or afternoon pick-me-up!
