Boozy Strawberry Limeade

I have no idea what is with the weather this past month. It’s like we can’t catch a break with the heat!! I looked at the weather map today and the ENTIRE United States was red. And the little legend on the side said red meant 100+ degrees. This is crazy. I don’t remember last summer being anywhere this hot and humid. Although, I must say that on Wednesday when I was walking around the city for a breather from work, the air wasn’t humid. It was really heavy and I found it difficult to breath. My coworker then said, “you know what this feels like? I feel like we’re in a dryer.” Words have never been truer. I felt like we were in a dryer with that stale, musty, HOT, air. Our clothes were also really warm too. Total dryer moment. Maybe I should carry some Bounce with me? Ha, juuuust kidding.

So what is a girl to do with being stuck in a real life dryer? Make boozy strawberry limeades of course! These seriously made my body chill out. It took my body temp from outrageous to decent. Jason drank the entire mason jar of it – girly color or not.

I loved the acidity that the limeade brought to the drink. There was a bite to it — or was it the rum?

These drinks are so easy to make and super refreshing. So refreshing that you’ll want to sit out on your porch and sip on them and the heat won’t even bother you!

Time to go chill out with these boozy babies. Enjoy! :)

Holy yum! We just caught a break with the heat up in NH it’s going to be 78 today YES! This 90-100 degree crap has been killing me. I’ve enjoyed lots of cold boozy drinks the past few weeks! This needs to be made in my house asap!

Cathy @ Noble Pig - July 20, 2012 - 9:48 AM

Oh, this is beautiful and it would cancel out any of that nasty humidity!

I think everything EXCEPT Washington must have been labeled in red -because we’re currently raining and 60…Oh, and thunderstorms too. I could so go for one of these just to make it Feel like I am having a summer. BEAUTIMUS!

Stephanie - July 20, 2012 - 10:21 AM

I feel for you. I was back east visiting family and I felt like I was suffocating every single day. While I am thankful that Utah does not have humidity, I use need to moisturize and drink more water more often.

Thanks for the strawberry limeades! I’ll have to make these without rum. ^_^

This is the perfect refreshing drink. I will be saving this recipe to try out when I don’t have a little munchkin in the bun.

amy @ fearless homemaker - July 20, 2012 - 10:32 AM

too yummy! and you’re right – it’s hard to get excited about baking + cooking these days with this crazy heat. D + i always say that it feels like being inside an oven, but a dryer would work, too. =)

Living The Sweet Life - July 20, 2012 - 10:34 AM

I like the way you think!! These would be perfect for today. OMGoodness and in Ontario, we’ve had some dryer days too!! I hope winter doesn’t kick our cupcakes, with how hot it is now.

Samantha - July 20, 2012 - 10:35 AM

It’s kind of funny that this post went up on the day the temps dropped like 30 degrees and it’s pouring rain (at least in NY) haha ;) Regardless though, I want it!

Laurie {Simply Scratch} - July 20, 2012 - 11:28 AM

You had me at boozy. Seriously… it’s all I can think about these days! And these look ridiculously refreshing Julie <3

Jenny @ Savour the Senses - July 21, 2012 - 2:10 AM

I am about to leave my paradise in Hawaii to move back to Colorado where I have heard the weather has been way over 100 so I think I am going to need to make these ASAP when I get back!

Jennie @themessybakerblog - July 21, 2012 - 9:30 AM

It is stinkin’ hot here, too. I’m tired of being stuck in the house, but there’s no way I’m going out in that sticky, hot air. I’m going to need one of these, maybe two, to cool down.

amanda @ fake ginger - July 21, 2012 - 1:58 PM

I love the heat! We have a dry heat out here so it feels good – it doesn’t make you all sticky and gross.

I love these limeades! I wish I had one right now!

Stephanie @ Eat. Drink. Love. - July 22, 2012 - 1:15 AM

I hate living in Florida because of the heat and humidity! I just try to avoid going outside! And um, I freaking love this boozy drink!
