Homemade poultry seasoning is the perfect aromatic seasoning to add to your poultry-based dishes and so much more!

Poultry seasoning is a seasoning blend I always find myself missing in my spice cabinet which boggles my mind because I use it fairly often when I make my stovetop chicken and dumplings and chicken noodle soup. I guess I’m heavy-handed with it!
Regardless, poultry seasoning is a tasty spice blend that should be a staple in your spice cabinet or drawer! Its aroma and flavor makes me think of Thanksgiving time because of the sage-base and it’s so cozy and homey.
What’s in Poultry Seasoning?
Poultry seasoning is a mix of dried sage, thyme, rosemary, marjoram, white pepper, black pepper, and a tiny pinch of nutmeg for warmth.
How to Use It and How Much to Use
You don’t need a whole lot of poultry seasoning in recipes since this is a decently aromatic spice blend. I would say start with 1 teaspoon and go up from there.
Sprinkle some when you make your stuffing/dressing for Thanksgiving and of course chicken-based soups like my lemon chicken and rice soup or a turkey-based soup like turkey and dumpling soup. Make your own breakfast sausage too!
Storage Instructions
Poultry seasoning will be good for 1 year. It doesn’t go “bad,” but spices do lose their flavor intensity if being stored for an extended period of time. Make sure to store this seasoning blend in a cool, dry place.
