Would this recipe work if you substitute white cake mix with chocolate Devil’s food cake mix? I tried the white cake mix and it turned out to be the most amazing cupcakes I made! So I’m looking for a chocolate version. :)

To be honest, I’m not sure because I’ve never done it before, but it should work out fine. I just can’t guarantee the results since I haven’t tried it before. If you do try it, let me know how it turns out!

I tried this recipe and loved the simplicity of it.Except my cupcakes didn’t rise as much and am wondering if I messed up somewhere. I did end up using super moist cake mix and wondering if I should stick with regular.

    1. Julie says:

That could be one reason, but another could be the climate/humidity and also altitude.

I am planning to make these for my baby shower actually and I’ve seen this same recipe with a 18.25 oz box white cake mix. Yours says 16.25 and in the store I was only able to find a 15.25 oz box (ugh). Should I decrease the amount of water or other wet ingredients because of this and if so, by how much?

    1. Julie says:

No, you’ll be fine with you 15.25 box! :)

How long do you generally mix for your batter for. Made similar cakes like this before and some you mixed for 2 minutes and some for 5 minutes.

    1. Julie says:

It really depends when it comes to baking how long you mix your batter for. I would just follow the instructions on how long to mix it. Generally speaking, I do anywhere from 2-7 minutes, all depending on the batter and type of cake/cupcake/muffin, etc.

I meant recipes I’ve tried off pinterest, not this specific person’s page. I try recipes on pinterest weekly and some are good and some dissapoint but this cake recipe was great!

      Glad to hear it! :)

I made these for my 22yr old daughters birthday. My mom asked me if I really made them. Everyone Loved them and it was very easy.
There has been alot of recipes on here that I’ve tried and this is the first one that really turned out great!

The wedding cupcakes are very pretty. My fiance is determined that you can make a wedding cake out of cupcakes. I’m guessing you would just have the 3 tier form and place the cupcakes like yours on it in the place of cakes layers. Does this sound right to you?

    1. Julie says:

Yes, definitely! You can buy those 3 tiered cupcake holders or stands at most craft stores!

Your pictures are absolutely gorgeous! These cupcakes look awesome. The frosting pops off the page and makes me want to stick my finger in it. Great website. Thanks for the inspiring photography.
